Education Sunday, 9 September 2018
Jesus said, ‘I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly’ (John 10: 10)
Education is going to be our major focus at the 9.30 service at St Paul’s. We have lots of places of education in the parish: Western, our church primary school, The Westgate all-through school, Lanterns Children’s Centre and Peter Symonds Sixth-form College, not forgetting St Paul’s Pre-school. And then there’s the important work of our Sunday school, week by week, as it seeks to nurture children and young people in the Christian faith.
At the specially themed service that day the sermon will be a dialogue between Peter Seal and Bill Lucas, who is Professor of Learning and Director of the Centre for Real-World Learning at Winchester University. There will be special prayers for our schools and colleges and particularly for our children and young people.
Following that we have a Teddy Bears’ Picnic (for all ages!) as we welcome those who have a connection with St Paul’s – through baptism, the toddler group, Pre-school or in any other way. Do come along. Mary Copping and Peter will be there and look forward to seeing you.
